Whenever possible visits are arranged to places of local interest that are connected with the units of study being undertaken by pupils. St Peter's School is ideally placed, being close to Peasholm Park, the beach and other places of local interest.

Scarborough
Hit the town, then hit the beach!
The South Bay beach and the busy Brunswick shopping centre are only minutes apart, linked by the popular cliff lifts.
Scarborough's largely pedestrianised centre incorporating all the major high-street names plus many specialist shops - some opened by our graduates - which contribute to the town's unique character. Boutique shopping and cafe culture are part of Scarborough's unique appeal.

Renaissance Scarborough
Substantial private and public sector investment supports Scarborough's resurgence.
Recent projects include the harbour's transformation into a stylish marina; free seafront Wi-Fi; The Sands, a £120 million residential facility; and the installation of one of Europe's fastest broadband connections (100MB).
The 'creative industries' are a rapidly developing sector in Scarborough, with the new Woodend Creative Centre providing a focus. Scarborough has also been named Most Enterprising Place in Britain 2008, and more recently in 2009 the Most Enterprising Town in Europe.

Dinosaurs, Explorers and Vampires
With its towering cliffs, rocky shores and sandy beaches, North Yorkshire offers some of the UK's more spectacular and inspiring coastline. The remarkable concentration of dinosaur footprints and fossils found locally has caused the area to become known at the Dinosaur Coast.
To the north of Scarborough is historic Whitby- home to some exceptional fish restaurants and famed for its Benedictine abbey, as a setting for Bram Stoker's Dracula and as the home of Captain Cook, and his ship Endeavour. To the south there's Filey, a friendly seaside town with some elegant Edwardian and Victorian architecture, tranquil gardens and five miles of sandy beach.
Coastline and Countryside
Elsewhere along the coast, narrow ravines shelter winsome fishing villages such as Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes; inland lies the breathtaking heather-clad expanse of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park; while the hills of the Yorkshire Wolds ripple gently southward. This variety of attractive landscapes on our doorstep offers unrivalled opportunities for fresh air and healthy recreation.

Local Shops
The local community is used by all of the children to enhance their learning. As you can see from the pictures we often visit the local shops as well as venues throughout the Scarborough area.

All classes take part in projects supporting all aspects of the curriculum, especially Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Science and Art.

Parents Association - PA
As a parent of a child in St Peter’s School you are automatically a member of the Parent’s Association – the PA.
We are a friendly group of individuals who regularly organise fund raising events in school. The money from these events goes towards many things which enhance school life e.g. playground equipment, the Peace Garden, subsidising trips etc.
We are always in need of fresh ideas and input or just some fresh faces to support us with our efforts.
